But, thermapens are magic for frying chicken.<\/p>\n<p>Followed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seriouseats.com\/recipes\/2013\/06\/cook-the-book-buttermilk-skillet-fried-chicken-from-mastering-the-art-of-southern-cooking.html\">a recipe<\/a> off Serious Eats&#8230; and magic!<\/p>\n<p>This follows a previous attempt at the same recipe without a thermapen that resulted in delicious chicken&#8230; but with throughly blackened (as in inedibly blackened) skin. One day I will buy a deep fryer and make my life easier. And waistline larger. <\/p>\n<p>Also, in an attempt not to lose all the recipes&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Buttermilk Pound Cake of Buttery Goodness &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/allrecipes.com\/recipe\/buttermilk-pound-cake-ii\/\">original version &#038; source<\/a><br \/>\n 3 cups all-purpose flour<br \/>\n 1\/4 teaspoon baking soda<br \/>\n 1\/2 teaspoon salt<br \/>\n 1 cup butter &#8211; try with slightly less next time. maybe 14tbsp?<br \/>\n 3 cups white sugar &#8211; did 2.5 because that&#8217;s how i roll<br \/>\n 6 eggs<br \/>\n<del datetime=\"2013-07-23T06:58:48+00:00\"> 1 teaspoon lemon extract<\/del> omitted because lazy and did not have<br \/>\n 1 teaspoon vanilla extract<br \/>\n 1 cup buttermilk<\/p>\n<p>Would make again.
