Sutro Baths

We wanted to photograph Sutro Baths, thinking that a full moon would provide great lighting… Apparently not, if it’s overcast!

Dinosaurs & Cacti

Kids toys through the window. Not creepin’, I swear.

Pinhole Pictures

With help from Shamiq, I’ve made a bodycap-pinhole lens. It’s a body cap with some holes drilled into it (courtesy of Shamiq) and aluminum foil over the holes. Here are some pictures I took in the last couple weeks…

More to come! Ideally taken outdoors so I don’t have to do crazy long exposures.

Disappearing Marshmallows

My hands

After my round of eggs-in-cupcakes, I had some chocolate cake batter left. I thought I’d make them into smore-cupcakes.

Fillings

From the left, graham crackers + mini marshmallows, just mini marshmallows, half a large marshmallow & a whole large marshmallow.

Topped off the batter, you can still see the shapes of the fillings.

Finished cupcakes! I was excited to bite into them… I figured I’d get a mouthful of gooey marshmallow & warm chocolate cupcake…

DSC_0530

Nope! The marshmallows melted into the cake. I guess this makes sense when I think about it…

But darn, the cupcakes looked misleadingly gooey.

Upside, the melted marshmallows made the chocolate cupcakes incredibly gooey and moist.

Gemenids

Last night was the peak of the Gemenids meteor shower. I took some pictures, mostly at 20 seconds and 2000 ISO.

Here is one, with the horizon.

Here’s one of the longest and brightest stars of the night. (I got lucky!)

New Camera!

Because I didn’t already have enough cameras hiding in my drawer. I decided I was buying myself a Hasselblad for Christmas. I know it’s a bit early, but I found a pretty good (I think?) deal on one.

I got a 501c body, waist level finder, two film backs (A12 & A24, though the 24 is pretty useless), C T* f2.8 80mm Planar & a couple accessories.

Now all I need me is some unexpired film… Somehow all the 120 film I’ve got is expired.

Micro 4/3rds!

I got a new camera! An Olympus EPL-1, Micro 4/3rds. It was a “demo” camera off EBay (via Slickdeals) for $200 which I think is a pretty good deal. My beloved Nikon D7000 isn’t going anywhere, but often times it’s just too big and heavy to throw into my bag, especially if I’m carrying a laptop or two.

There’s a picture from the first bunch I took with the new camera today —

hello world!

Here’s to yet another blog… which brings about all the usual questions — will I stick to it? Will I remember my password? Will I post for a couple days then decide that I’m far more interested in reading blogs than posting to one?

At any rate, here’s to new beginnings!
