Attempting square images…

Thanks to Shamiq for introducing me to this recipe. But best pancakes ever here. Low heat, so they take forever, but they end up slightly crisp, but soft and fluffy on the inside. Num num num.

Combine the dry ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 tbsp sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp fine salt

Combine the wet ingredients in a second bowl, whisk:
2 cups buttermilk
4 tbsp melted butter (unsalted. or put in less salt. Shamiq says so!)
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 beaten eggs

Then combine. Cook in lots of butter.

Knitting!

A hat!

In the last few days I’ve made two hats following this pattern. Now my head is all warm and cozy.

Also in the works is a scarf for dad. I’ve made up a diagonal knit-purl stripes pattern, and it’s coming along pretty stripy-ly. It’s also reminded me of why I like bulkier yarn…

Crochet Antlers

image

Chain 9, join into loop.
Double crochet off that in two rows (so now you’ve got a little stub…)

First Branch:
Chain 6, join to the loop three from where you started
Double crochet off that loop, outward, two rows
Close that off, then use a needle to pull it tight — yay one branch is done!

Tie the yarn back to the base and add two rows to the trunk
As you grow the trunk, all the dcs next to the branch, just loop through the trunk so they connect
It should take only the two rows to be as tall as the branch
Next row goes all the way around, 8 dcs

Second Branch:
Chain 6, join to the loop three away. Line it up with the first branch
Double crochet from that loop, outward, three rows
Close that off, pull it tight.

Tie the yarn back to the base, add two rows, same as earlier
Three more rows of dc, then close it off

Inside out them, to hide the knots. Stuff with stuffing.

Theros Sealed

Went 1-2, played blue/green, then swapped to blue/red my third round.

I think I did okay, but I sometimes forgot to use abilities like Thassa’s “target creature can’t be blocked”. :/

Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake

It sounds weird, but it’s delicious. And I took no pictures.

Recipe from here, via this list.

Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake
7 large marshmallows
3 scoops vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup fresh milk
5 slices graham crackers

Toast marshmallows & put everything in the blender.

We unintentionally did science, and it seems that handfuls of small marshmallows give you more toasty bits than 7 big marshmallows. Also, broiling the mini marshmallows with the cookie sheet in the middle of the oven for a couple minutes did the trick.

Oops.

I shipped myself to the Philippines for five weeks, sans Lightroom and never updated! Good job, self.

But, so I don’t lose it — recipe for Starbucks Butterbeer:
– A Creme Frappuccino base
– Add 3 pumps of caramel syrup
– Add 3 pumps of toffee nut syrup
– Top with caramel drizzle

…It sounds incredibly sweet, but I’ll try it anyway.

Smore Pie

I made this over the weekend.

The verdict: Crazy sweet, but delicious. The sweetness makes it almost hard to eat though. :/

Next time: Graham cracker crust, brownies, homemade marshmallow cream.

Baked! (Yum)

Pizza baked on the sheet of stainless steel (preheated to 445F) was the closest I’ve gotten to a really crisp crust. I bet it would be even crisper if I had given the steel more time to come to temperature. Shamiq and I were hungry and threw the pizza in the moment the oven hit 445F… So we’ll have to be more patient next time!
